Why we need your VIN
We require your VIN when you submit a report so that:
- We know the place of manufacture of the vehicle
- We know specfic manufacturer model and internal manufacturer code of your vehicle
- We know the model year of your vehicle
- We can prevent duplicate report submissions and ensure a high quality of data
By requesting your VIN details it allows us to have more reliable data and potentially identify patterns to specfic internal model numbers, manufacturer locations, and years.
Is it safe to share my VIN?
We only share and display the first 11 VIN characters when you submit a failure report. The first 11 characters only contain the location the bike was manufactued, the internal model number and model year.
The last six digits of your VIN will remain private and will not be shared. We only use the last six digits to prevent duplicate report submissions and ensure a high quality of data.
