Owners comments: I bought the bike crashed ao did not pursue warranty. I inspected the engine and noticed cam wear and at the time thought this was due to the bike running on its side etc after a crash with no oil so I scrapped the enture engine and fitted another used engine. It wasnt until I saw photographs on the facebook page a few months ago that I noticed the cam wear was the exact same as what I had. I suspect there are many owners like me where it has gone unreported as they are either out of warranty and hence it is not reported or they are completely unaware of the issue as I was, I imagine the number is quite high as I am very active on social media, whereas other may never fund out there is an issue unless they are contacted directly by ktm etc.
